Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek

Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek

Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek

Trekking around the world’s seventh highest mountain, the Dhaulagiri circuit trek is undoubtedly one of Nepal’s beautiful and a challenging trek with the crossing of two Himalayan passes over 5000m.

A fully camping trek in the remote, diverse and off the beaten path of Nepal Himalaya, we will be crossing the French Pass named after the French mountain legend ‘Maurice Hergoz’.

The great thing about Dhaulagiri Circuit trek is the side-option to climb beautiful Thapa Peak (6060m). From Hidden Valley, you have the option to attempt for Thapa Peak.

Then, we cross the Thapa Pass from where the panoramic views toward Dolpo, Mustang in the north, the massifs of Dhaulagiri & Annapurna in the south is just breathtaking.

Acclimatisation during the trek:

It is very important to be well acclimatised before you reach a higher altitude, where it is very tough to escape. We have one extra day before we reach Dhaulagiri base camp in our itinerary, but we can add one more extra day depending on the situation. So, therefore you need to have at least 3 spare days for this trek.

Risks:

This trek should only be attempted when snow-free because we will be trekking in high altitude and the snow condition could really affect the entire trip.

We do not recommend trekking alone in this area. It is very important to well understand the terrain because there are spots with rockfalls and avalanches risks. It is an extreme trek.

You will need to take the right decision at the right moment when it comes to weather because we will be trekking with the crew and it is very difficult to evacuate everyone during the bad weather conditions.

If you are looking forward to a real adventure trekking experience, Dhaulagiri circuit trek is an ideal choice for you. We recommend this trek to the trekkers with previous trekking experience above 5000m.
